May 20, 2019 – Motorists using U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway) in Delaware County are now traveling in a new traffic pattern where a lane of eastbound and westbound vehicles are riding on the newly constructed eastbound pavement between U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) and Clayton Park Drive in Concord, Bethel and Upper Chichester townships.
The new pattern allows the contractor to expand construction of two new westbound lanes (Stage 2) across the entire mile project area.
Stage 2 construction began at the western end of the project in early 2019 after traffic was moved onto the new eastbound pavement between U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) and Fellowship Drive in January.
Once traffic has been shifted into the new pattern by Wednesday afternoon, previously closed intersections with Station Road North, Station Road South and Merion Drive will be reopened. The intersections have been closed for reconstruction to tie them into the new eastbound lanes.
Periodic lane restrictions and brief stoppages also may take place in the work zone on Mondays through Fridays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for the remainder of construction.
