The widening and reconstruction of U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway) will be completed under four separate construction contracts: Section 101 (Completed December 2020), Section 102, Section 103, and Section CSX. An advanced contract, Section MIT (Completed Fall 2018), developed wetland mitigation sites for the project and prepared a location for future construction of a PennDOT maintenance yard.
Section 101 constructed two eastbound and westbound lanes, separated by a curbed grass median, on U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway) between U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) and Clayton Park Drive.
This section also included intersection improvements at:
Section 102 will construct two eastbound and westbound lanes, separated by a curbed grass median, on U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway) from Clayton Park Drive to just east of Chelsea Parkway/Bethel Avenue.
A Bethel Township Commercial Road also will be constructed along the south side of U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway) between Route 261 (Foulk Road) and Creek Parkway.
Section 102 also will include intersection improvements at:
Section 103 will reconstruct the existing four-lane, barrier-separated section of U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway) from Cherry Tree Road/Bethel Avenue to just east of Route 452 (Market Street).
This section also will include intersection improvements at Cherry Tree/Bethel Avenue and the Route 452 (Market Street) Interchange.
Section CSX will replace the bridge over the CSX railroad and Bethel Road as well as improvements to the adjacent Bethel Road Interchange.
Section MIT expanded an existing wetland site in Thornbury Township as replacement wetlands for the U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway) project.
This section also realigned Station Road North and prepared a site pad for a future PennDOT maintenance facility at Station Road North.
