With the larger project to reconstruct and improve the I-95/U.S. 322 Interchange on hold until construction funds are available, PennDOT is moving forward with replacement of the U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway) bridge over the CSX railroad and Bethel Road as well as improvements to the adjacent Bethel Road Interchange. These improvements will be constructed as Section CSX, the third phase of the U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway) Improvement Project.

Section CSX is now progressing through the Final Design phase of project development. The project's environmental document, a Categorical Exclusion (CE), was finished in late 2019. During Final Design, Right-of-Way (ROW) acquisition will be completed and PennDOT, working with its consulting engineers, will complete construction plans and specifications and prepare a bid package to go out to prospective contractors. The necessary environmental permits have been secured. The project is tentatively scheduled to go into construction in 2024.
